Brandy Michelle Hayes

August 26, 1978 - March 26, 2022

Brandy Michelle Hayes was born to the late Frances Ruth “Ruthie” Higgins in McAlester, OK on August 26th, 1978. She has one younger sister, Beth. She attended high school in Wilburton, OK and was involved in cheerleading and basketball. She was also an honor roll student. Brandy was close with her mother until Ruthie’s passing in 2005, and remained close with her sister Beth throughout her life. The bond the three of them shared was something people dream about having. She attended college at Northeastern State University, and graduated in May of 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. While working part time, and being a stay at home mom to two babies, she still managed to graduate Summa Cum Laude. After graduation, she worked for attorney BJ Baker, and loved every second of it. She could not have found a better boss to work for. She loved to read books, especially authors James Patterson and J.D. Robb. Her favorite music artists included Tina Turner, Heart, Janis Joplin, Def Leopard, and Patrick Swayze, who is more than a one hit wonder in the mind of Brandy. Her favorite movie was Dirty Dancing, and she loved true crime shows. Her greatest accomplishment was that of her family. She met her husband, David, in 1999. She knew from the moment she met him that she would marry him. They have four children: Damon, Madison, Hunter & Emily. Brandy always had so much pride in being a wife and mother, and was the best at it. While she got so much joy from being a mom and a wife, her favorite role in life she achieved on May 15, 2019 when her first grand baby, Tony, was born. Her love for Tony was evident to anyone who knew her - she couldn’t not talk about him. Brandy is survived in death by her husband, David; her children Damon & his wife Michaela and their son Tony of Tahlequah, Madison Bullard and her husband Wade of Tahlequah, Hunter & Emily of the home, her sister Beth Higgins of Muskogee, OK, her nanny Laura Waugh, her aunt Stormy, and a multitude of in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Ruth, her papa Kenneth Waugh, her uncle Jimmy Waugh, her great-grandma Viola Sweeden, and her papa Richard Higgins.
