Dennis James Glass aged 70, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2020 at Northeastern Health System, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He was born January 22, 1950 to John Taylor and Sarah Mae (Houseberg) Glass in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Dennis was married to Sandra Glass on April 21, 1967. Dennis attended Kansas Public Schools and is an Alumni of Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology – formerly OSU-Okmulgee. He graduated as an Electronics Technician in 1972, and used this knowledge extensively at his former jobs at Gates Rubber Company, and McKee (Little Debbies) before retiring. He also took great pride in helping community members by repairing electrical and/or heat and air issues or just about anything he could help with. Dennis loved the ball fields, it didn’t matter which kind. If you were to visit the home, the television was usually on some kind of game, baseball, softball, or football. He was a former player, coach and an avid watcher and him and Sandra had lifetime passes and traveled to support the local teams when they could. One of the most notable moments was playing fast pitch with the Kansas Indians when they traveled to Gallup, New Mexico to play in and win the N.I.A.A. All-Indian Fast Pitch Championship in 1982. He also had a love of pitching horseshoes and the comradery that this brought, it was also his way of leaving things in the hands of God. Another one of his favorite pastimes, was the casino. He said it had nothing to do with luck and says he had it down to a science when it would hit. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Taylor Glass and Sarah Mae (Houseberg) of Kansas, Oklahoma. One brother, Jackie Glass of Kansas, Oklahoma, two sisters, Rita Glass and Vickie (Glass) Saubel, of Kansas, Oklahoma. Dennis is survived by his wife, Sandra Glass of the home. One son, Steven Taylor Glass, of Kansas, Oklahoma. Two daughters, Vanessa Glass and Stephen Whaler, of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Rendi Glass and Patrick McDowell, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Grandsons include Tristan and Rachel Crittenden, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Ethan Whaler of Kansas, Oklahoma, Sebastian Carnell and Riley Dickerson of Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Granddaughters, Whitney and Joey Hooper, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Shalaunda Bird and Pablo Angeles, of Kansas, Oklahoma, Savanna (Jade) and Eric Lopez, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Rebecca (Taylor) and Malachi Fair, of Laramie, Wyoming and Madison Whaler of Kansas, Oklahoma. There are also nine (9) great grandchildren. Surviving siblings include brothers, Jesse and Tena Glass of Kansas, OK, Sanford Glass, of Kansas, OK, Leonard and Angie Glass of Wyandotte, OK. Sisters, Shirley Blackfox, of Kansas, OK, Helen and Charles Ketcher, of Kansas, OK, and Barbara Glass and Oak Lumby, of Kansas, OK. He also had a host of many nieces, nephews, and friends. The wake will be held at Green Country Funeral Home in Tahlequah, OK, on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 7 pm and graveside services are on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 2 pm, at Long Prairie Cemetery in Kansas, OK.
