Dorothy Lee Stufflebeam Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Dorothy Lee Stufflebeam was called home on Thursday, July 28, just seven months and one day after the love of her life, George Stufflebeam. She was born in Mountain Home, AR on March 29, 1937. She married George on April 8, 1963, in Tahlequah. They made their home in Stilwell where they operated George’s market to the community for many years. During this time of raising their children they found their ministry in gospel music. Their entire family participated in spreading the word of God through song. After selling the store she returned to the propane industry where she had a long and successful career as head bookkeeper, retiring from Amerigas. Dorothy loved her family, flowers, and reading the Bible. Her hobbies included; pottery, crocheting, and playing the piano. Dorothy made the world's best fried chicken and vinegar cobbler. Being with her family was her greatest pleasure and she loved teaching the next generation about their family traditions. Dorothy taught her children and grandchildren about God, prayer, and faith. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and example of a life well lived. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents, Van Buren and Helen Haney; and her siblings, Elsie, Ovileta, Kenneth, and Darlene; and three children, Rick, Tim, and Karen. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Sharon Collins of Oklahoma City; Denise Dean of Tahlequah; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, and friends. We will miss her but we are thankful for all the time we had with her and all of the memories of love, laughter, and family. We know that she is reunited with the Lord and her love. A very special thank you to Elizabeth Rose and Dawn Parli for everything you did for our sweet mother and family. Our prayer is that God richly blesses you for your kindness. As we go through the celebration of Dorothy’s life today, we know it will be filled with memories of her beautiful life.
