Elphreda Jane Williams

July 27, 1940 - April 30, 2022

Elphreda Jane Williams, died April 30, 2022 in Tahlequah, OK. Jane was born in Gideon Community, OK on July 27, 1940, to Melvin and Dovie Neugin Ritchey. Jane as she was affectionately called by friends and family, married Nolan Cummins and they had four children. After an illness in 1972, he passed away. Jane raised her four children while earning a Master’s degree in Special Education. She taught for 21 years until she retired from Shady Grove School. She was also a former Board President of the Gideon Fire Department. Jane was a member of the Blue Springs Baptist Church in the Gideon Community, where she loved to sing with the church group. She enjoyed spending time and cooking with family. Some of her hobbies included working in her flower beds, feeding the Hummingbirds, and watching the deer. Jane was influenced by her family to be a loving, caring, Mother and Grandmother. She raised her children with love and devotion. After raising her children, she married Raymond Williams. They enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. Raymond passed away after a long battle with Cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Dovie Ritchey, and her husbands, Nolan Cummins and Raymond Williams. She is survived by her children, Brenda Carter and husband, Dennis Carter, Mark Cummins and wife, Elizabeth Cummins, Linda Lear and daughter, Heather and Robert Cummins, her grandchildren, Richard, Jennifer, Amanda, Mark, Stephanie, Heather, Amber, Ashley, Steven, Alex, Adalynn and Anna, her great-grandchildren, Whitley, Troy, Kaylee, Chloe, Lynly, Tucker, Tyler, Nolan, Jersi, Henlee, Isaiah, her sisters, Velva and Dawes Stevens, Melba Smith, Roberta and Henry Collins along with a host of family and friends that will miss her dearly. We know we can’t have you, but we are happy knowing that the angels have finally got you back. Goodbye to a wonderful woman and beautiful Mother and our “Nanny.”
