Flora Hendrix Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Flora Hendrix (known to her family as Mamaw) passed away on July 22, 2022, in Tahlequah, Ok, at the age of 92. Flora was born on Feb 14, 1930, to Eliza Lovett-Keys and James Madison Keys in Qualls, OK. On April 3, 1947, Flora married E.J. Vanuel Hendrix and during their 65 year union, they had 2 children: their daughter, Sherlyn Hendrix-Marsh-Phillips of Tahlequah and a son, Ronnie Vanuel Hendrix who passed as an infant. Flora remained a homemaker throughout her life, but was also involved in many of her husband E.J.’s entrepreneurial ventures which ranged from carrying mail, owning a pawn shop, operating a convenience store, and of course, one of their last endeavors together, wheeling and dealing at the infamous “IT SHOP”. She and E.J. loved to travel and took many road trips from coast to coast including many trips to places like Las Vegas, Nashville, and South Texas. Flora always enjoyed music (especially Elvis) and liked to dance. Many “wing-dings” and square dances were hosted at their home. She loved collecting dolls as well as antiques and would never turn down a Dr. Pepper. Flora is survived by her daughter, Sherlyn (and husband, Tommy Phillips) along with 3 grandchildren who she adored: Bryan Marsh (and wife, Trena) of Collinsville, Jodi Porter of Tahlequah, and Garron Marsh (and wife, Meredith) of Rockville, Md. She is also survived by step-grandchildren Amanda Kennedy (and husband, David) of Cedar Hill, TX and Deana Donahue of Cedar Hill, TX. Flora is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren: Delaney Marsh, Cassidy Marsh, Erin Porter, Natalee Porter, Drew Porter, Ethan Kennedy & Jagger Donahue.
