March 7, 1951 - October 21, 2020

Funeral services for Gary Leon Smith are 2:00 pm, Monday October 26, 2020 at Green Country Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday October 25th from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Officiating will be Reverend Todd Drake and Darrell Smith. Serving as pallbearers are Sean Poe, Kinley Hitchcock, Joel Sherrill, Stevie Thompson, Devo Day, and James Wildman. Honorary pallbearers are Darrell Cypert, Nathan Herring, Hunter Smith, Hayden Smith and Everton Drake. Online condolences may be expressed at tahlequahfuneral.com Gary Leon Smith was born in Rose, Oklahoma, March 7, 1951 to Virgil Zene and Mary Evalyn (Scott) Smith. He departed this life on October 21, 2020 in Keys, Oklahoma at the age of 69 years, 7 months and 14 days. Gary lived the majority of his life in Oklahoma, although a small portion of his childhood was spent in Colorado. Gary also lived in Atlanta, Georgia for a brief time as an adult. Gary spent his life raising cattle and working as a building contractor. He had a ranch in the Moody’s area for several decades. Gary was a Mason, a Shriner and member of Cherokee Lodge #10. In his spare time Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, horse racing, and spending time on the lake. Gary enjoyed large family gatherings and playing games with family members. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren and loved watching them participate in sporting events. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Mary Smith. He leaves behind his four children, Dawnie and Darryl Cypert, Chris and Laura Smith of Park Hill, Oklahoma, Steven and Katina Smith of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Kendrae Drake and Todd of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren’ four great grandchildren; brother, DeWayne Smith; sister, Liz Smith; and many other friends and loved ones.
