Melanie Darleane Dodge

May 2, 1948 - January 31, 2022

Melanie Darleane Dodge (Sherwood) 73 of Tahlequah, passed away Monday January 31st, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family and friends. Melanie was born on May 2nd, 1948, in Southwest City, MO to Joyce Sherwood. Melanie grew up in San Francisco, Houston, and Miami, she married the love of her life Alan Dodge on September 7, 1971. Melanie was a Army wife for several years, a mom and worked in the Healthcare industry before being employed at Cherokee Nation. Melanie had worked at Cherokee Nation for a number of years and worked in many different departments at Cherokee Nation. Melanie enjoyed shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family. You could always bet that if there was a sale Melanie would be there and she would find the bargain. Melanie especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and traveling with her chosen Sister Peggy. Melanie loved the beach and was able to take her family to the beach. She enjoyed her trip with her family very much. She talked about that trip all the time. Melanie is survived by her 3 Children Son James and wife Jill Dodge of Colorado Springs, CO. Daughters Joie Dodge of Tahlequah, OK and Karen Dodge-Kelso and husband Scott Kelso also of Tahlequah, 7 Grand kids Leslie Dodge of Tahlequah, Amelia Dodge and Dylan Huff-Dodge of Colorado Springs. Brooklyn Dodge, Alan J. Dodge, J.J. Alan Dodge and Bentley Kelso all of Tahlequah and Great Grand daughter Lily Dodge of Colorado Springs. Her chosen sister Peggy Smith of Lawton, OK, other survivors include nieces, nephews, and many friends. Melanie was preceded in death by her husband Alan Dodge, mother Joyce, and Aunt Edna. Melanie will be laid to rest with her husband Alan in a private ceremony at FT. Gibson National Cemetery.
