Funeral Services for Opal (Davis) Childress, 93, retired Site manager of Tahlequah Senior Citizens Center, will be December 7, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery where she will be placed with her late husband Troy. Officiating will be Pastor Dennis James. She grew up in the Etta Bend area where she attended School. She married Troy "Clyde" and began a long, fulfilled life of a wife and mother. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening. Opal was a dedicated homemaker until the passing of Troy in 1994, she then worked at the Tahlequah Senior Citizens Center for many years retiring as site manager. Preceding her in death are her husband Troy in 1994; four children, Troy Childress Jr., Rhonda Jones, and two infant children; and one great grandchild. When Opal transitioned from independent living, she was known as Granny to those caring for her daily needs at the Cherokee County Nursing Center. She is survived by her sister Elsie Keys, and her children Pat Padrnos, Linda Heath, Larry Childress and wife Janice, Sam Childress, Jennifer Agee and husband Roger, Paul Childress and wife Malinda, Kevin Childress and wife Markeeta, Cheryl Webb and husband Bob Ed, Susan Batey and husband Dwain, and Sandra Craig and husband Grant; Son-n-law Johnny Jones; 23 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, relatives, friends, and loved ones.
