Teressa Raye Wilson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Teressa Raye Wilson left her earthly home for her heavenly home on May 28, 2022. Teressa was born on February 5, 1937 in Vaughn, New Mexico to Hollis “Pete” Callaway and Julia Butler Callaway. At an early age her family left Vaughn and moved to Green Forrest, Arkansas. Later she moved to Haskell, Texas where she graduated from high school, and then on to Abilene, Texas to attend business college. While in Abilene, Teressa met the love of her life and a kindred spirit, Fred W. Wilson, when his gospel quartet sang at the church she was attending. Following their marriage, they lived in Houston and then Oklahoma City. In 1968, Teressa and Fred began a new adventure, moving to Tahlequah, Oklahoma to open Eagle Bluff Camp, one of the first canoe resorts on the Illinois River. They were a creative team, pulling together and involving their children as they built their family business. They soon purchased Rockaway Camp, owning and managing both Camps until their retirement. Fred and Teressa’s union was blessed with three children, Phyllis, Cynthia Kay, and J. Scot, as well as two grandchildren, Desiree and Justin JR. But her most recent, energizing sparks of light were her four great-grandsons, Brock, Camden, Colton, and Cooper. Their visits always brought brightness and humor to her home. Teressa was preceded in death by her husband, Fred W. Wilson, her parents, Pete and Julia Callaway, and a brother, Joe Frank Callaway. She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis (Stanley) Smith of Park Hill and Cynthia Kay (Tim) Morris of Claremore, her son, J. Scot Wilson of Tahlequah, her grandchildren, Desiree (Jim) Breech and Justin JR (Catherine) Watts and her great-grandchildren, Brock Breech and Camden, Colton, and Cooper Watts all of Tulsa, her brothers, Hollis (Judy) Callaway of Haskell, Texas and Clinton (Connie) Callaway of Shawnee, Oklahoma, nieces, Andrea (Chanda) Mao of Benbrook, Texas and Kim (Jeremy) Hollers of Little Axe, Oklahoma, and nephews, Cole (Sheri) Callaway of Pawnee, Oklahoma and Greydon Callaway of Dallas, Texas. A Memorial Service for Teressa will be held at Abundant Life Church in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
